Summary: We’ve developed a free upgraded locking system to fully resolve the unexpected locking pin release issue some customers have experienced with the new rudder.
As many of you may be aware, since the introduction of the new rudder, we have experienced instances in which the locking pin for the horizontal foil has released without warning.
Despite extensive investigation, the exact cause has not been fully determined.
To address this, we have developed and tested an improved locking system designed to completely resolve the issue.
This upgrade is free of charge.
Critical Upgrade
This is fitting is a required upgrade and not optional. WASZP are supplying this upgrade free of charge.
What’s changing?
The new system replaces the connector assembly that sits on top of the bulb post. The push-pin with a spring has been replaced with a screw-in fitting.
A set of three screws is supplied, each featuring a different head outer diameter.
This design accommodates minor manufacturing tolerances and alignment variations between the vertical and horizontal foil holes. A shim has also been introduced to remove any remaining tolerance.
This system has undergone extensive testing, including at the WASZP Games in Weymouth, and has effectively resolved the issues faced.
