WASZP Italia Cup Kicks Off Season with High-Speed Racing in Messina

From April 4th to 6th, the WASZP Italia Cup launched its 2026 season with an exciting opening stage in Messina, Italy, bringing together 30 sailors across three categories – 6.9, 7.5, and 8.2.

The event featured a varied race schedule, combining fleet racing with a long-distance race, testing sailors across different formats. Over the three days, six races were completed for both the 6.9 and 7.5 fleets, while the 8.2 fleet completed five races.

Messina proved to be a demanding and rewarding venue, delivering a wide range of conditions throughout the weekend. From technical and tactical moments to a steady breeze that allowed for fast and consistent foiling, the fleet was kept on edge. Adaptability was key, as competitors had to stay sharp and react quickly on the water.
