Public voting is now open for the Foiling Awards IX, where the WASZP Class has earned a strong place on the 2025 shortlist, with nominations in three key categories: Foiling Event, Female Sailor, and Male Sailor.
With 104 nominees across 13 categories, Edition IX reflects the depth and diversity of modern foiling — spanning elite racing, boardsports, innovation, sustainability, and industry development. WASZP’s prominence is a clear sign of the continued momentum and growing international relevance of the class.

Foiling Event of the Year: WASZP Games WPNSA Weymouth 2025
A standout nomination for the class is the inclusion of the WASZP Games WPNSA Weymouth 2025 in the Foiling Event of the Year category.
The WASZP Games is nominated alongside other high-profile events in the sport — including SailGP, Foiling Week, the Moth Worlds and major offshore foiling races – proving WASZP’s ability to deliver spectacular world-class racing on a truly international stage.

Female Sailor Nominee: Pearl Lattanzi (USA)
In the Female Sailor category — dedicated to the best female foiling sailor on a single-handed boat or board — Pearl Lattanzi (USA) has been shortlisted following her performance to claim the WASZP Games Women’s Champion.
Pearl is one of the top foiling athletes internationally, and in 2025, delivered a sensational season. Pearl’s personal accolades also represent the increasing competitiveness and visibility of women’s racing in the WASZP fleet, with the standard rising rapidly year on year at major championships.
Why vote Pearl?
Pearl absolutely deserves to win. She has been racing the WASZP since 2019 and has put in serious time to get to where she is now, leaving no stone unturned on her journey to the top. There is no magic formula for Pearl’s results – they are the product of human effort and a clear display of unfettered dedication and resilience as she mastered her craft. On top of being an outstanding sailor, Pearl is an incredible role model to other sailors and a prominent community figure with an infectious enthusiasm for life and the sport. WASZP is incredibly proud of Pearl.

Male Sailor Nominee: Federico Bergamasco (ITA)
WASZP sailor Federico Bergamasco (ITA) has been nominated in the Male Sailor category after a standout season which included winning the WASZP Games Men’s Championship, along with the U21 title.
Why vote Federico?
Federico Bergasmaco won the title in the biggest foiling fleet ever. That’s huge. Imagine fighting tooth and nail across an ultra-competitive season to take the win over 250 foiling boats from 20 countries! Like Lattanzi, Bergamasco represents the modern WASZP Champion – a true athlete that has worked immensely hard to get to the top. The significance of Bergamasco’s win at the massive Weymouth 2025 Games should not be understated: this is an event and a champion that has earned a special place in the history books.

WASZP owes its successes to every sailor, parent, coach, club, and supporter that has ever been involved in the class. The class is built on community and driven by the people within it. Recognition of the WASZP Games 2025 is recognition of the incredible people that have built and championed the class, and reflects the promise of an exciting future. A vote for the WASZP Games 2025 is a vote for all those fantastic people.
Pearl and Federico’s nominations are achievements that the entire community can be proud of. Every person that has crossed their path on the WASZP journey, and every sailor that has crossed their wake, should celebrate their small part in the development and achievements of these two deserving champions by offering their vote.
Public voting for Foiling Awards IX is open until 20 February, with winners announced at the Foiling Awards gala night on 17 March in Genoa, Italy.
